Paleo 2.0 – Evolution of Stone Age Nutrition

2007 I first heard about sugar being a toxin in the usual western quantities. Since then I’m trying to eat low sugar. 2008 I found the Paleo diet this way, also known as evolutionary nutrition or simply Stone Age food.

Kurt Harris is one of the Paleo gurus. He is well known for his in-depth articles and especially for his 12 point priority list of a healthy, evolutionary diet. Now he has written an up-to-date article on diet, called “Paleo 2.0 – A diet manifesto”. I liked it so much, that I did the first translation for almost 2 years.

The article provides a summary of current knowledge about healthy nutrition and our problems with that. Kurt Harris also takes a historical look at the development of our diet and an anecdotic look at his own diet history.

[My partner] remarked
“Now there’s a heart-healthy breakfast!”.

I looked down at my tray, which had about 3 scrambled eggs, as many sausage links and pieces of bacon, and a carton of whole milk.

Kurt Harris position is, that when it comes to the concept of a paleo-diet, we shouldn’t dwell on historical subtleties. Rather, we should see the archaic nutrition as a reference for scientific studies and logical reasoning.

The sound scientific evidence, which will result from this course of action, may form a solid foundation for our diet, rather than an attempt of re-enacting a myth.

Many thanks to Kurt Harris for allowing me to translate his article.
