I’m walking through one of the many interchangeable tourist markets in Indochina. The barkers are terribly intrusive. Only one market woman doesn’t annoy me.
She is pleasantly quiet: No “hello Sir”, “buy something?”, “scarf?” I can even stop walking: No “good for you”, “good quality!”
Calmly, she lets me look through her t-shirts. I like one of them. I’m almost ready to buy the shirt. At the last moment she wakes up.
She rises like a scalded cat:
Hello Sir, buy something?
T-Shirt, good Quality!
Your size! Good for you!
She doesn’t even stop to breath…
No, thank you!
Annoyed, I am looking for the exit…
