Finally, Spain pictures from Madrid and Barcelona?
No. The Spaniards had occupied Mexico for a long time.
You can still see this today with the colonial buildings.
and with the many churches.
The many, many churches.
with much pomp.
1821 was the independence from Spain.
and everything became more Mexican
even the churches..
Has there ever been a more exciting time, than the colonial period? After more than 10,000 years of separation, the various human ethnic groups get together again.
That it had to end with Guns, Germs and Steel, was of course a huge mess…

Interesting interpretation to see colonilization as a getting together of ethnic groups… :)
Great pictures. Looking forward to see many more−also those from Spain.
thx
I agree that it’s almost as bizarre as saying Hiroshima was a nice firework.
What I mean is that the colonial period must have been the time of the greatest cultural diversity in human history. It was also the time of discovery. The maps were mostly white.
Really bad luck though, if you were the one being “discovered”. )-:
Yeah, I see your point. I think you’re right that in those times cultural diversity was at a peak.
I would have been really cool, if the discoverers would have been more enlightened and wouldn’t have felt compelled to conquer everyone.
It’s also interesting as the fact that our forefathers were the conquerors is the reason for our ability to travel to all these countries …
I’d rather have no borders at all (-;
Maybe one day?

It isn’t hard to do”
